• BREAKING NEWS: John Cena’s WWE Return Date Revealed

On tonight’s episode of WWE Backstage on FS1, it was revealed that 16 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will return to WWE programming on the February 28th episode of SmackDown in Boston, Massachusetts.

Cena could be coming back to begin the build for his WrestleMania 36 program, as multiple reports have stated that Cena wants to be a part of WrestleMania.

Below is what Cena said about working WrestleMania during a recent interview:

“Those spots are very coveted. There are performers who work all year, 250 shows a year, they earn those spots. I would love to earn one, at least. And the way you do that is by Vince McMahon, the head of creative, calling you up and being like, ‘Hey pal, I’d like you to do this.’ And then I say yes sir, and then I kind of put my own spin on it.”

While Cena didn’t have a match at last year’s WrestleMania, he did work the event and put away Elias while being the Doctor of Thuganomics.

Cena’s last appearance on WWE TV was back in July 2019 during the RAW Reunion episode, where he had a rap battle with The Usos.
