DDP Diamond Dallas Page

• ON THIS DAY IN WRESTLING HISTORY (December 19, 1987) – CWA Event (Europe) feat. André The Giant

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on December 19, 1987, Otto Wanz’s Catch Wrestling Association held an event at the Stadthalle in Bremen, Germany.

“The Eighth Wonder of the World” André the Giant was still under World Wrestling Federation contract at that time, when he wrestled former AWA World Champion Otto Wanz in the main event of this European show.

Actually André was feuding with WWF Champion Hulk Hogan at that time, which makes his appearance here even more surprising.

Here is the card:

Steve Wright vs. John Quinn

Mile Zrno vs. Masahiro Chono

Billy Samson vs. Baron von Raschke

Tony St. Clair vs. David Taylor

Catch Cup Bremen 1987 Final: Bull Power (Vader) vs. Rambo

Eddy Steinblock, Hans Roocks & Herkules Boyd vs. Butcher Mason, Indio Guajaro & John Harris

CWA World Heavyweight Title: Otto Wanz (c) vs. Andre The Giant

WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page posted the following on Twitter:

To our Family, Friends and Fans; it is with deep love and respect for you all that we put out this announcement. We ask that you keep our family in your thoughts, and respect our privacy during this time. We will not be making any other statements regarding this matter:

“After considerable thought, much reflection, and mixed emotions, I am sorry to announce that several months ago Brenda and I decided to separate, and after a three month separation we have filed for divorce.

While we both love each other, we recognize that we are two strong-willed people who will be happier if we part. As painful as divorce is, we are thankful that no infidelity or other love interests were involved in our decision and we are parting as friends.

I want to thank all of you in advance for your support as we move into the next phase of our lives and I ask that you respect our privacy and keep us in your thoughts in prayers. Dallas Page.”
