After claiming that Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels were lovers, Bret Hart claimed that Vince was in love with The Ultimate Warrior as well.
Here’s what The Hitman said in an interview with Inside The Ropes:
“No one liked Ultimate Warrior. I think Vince McMahon picked Warrior because he was in love with him. I mean that in an honest way. I really think Vince fell in love with Warrior. I don’t know what they did behind closed doors or anything, but I really don’t know.
My suspicions are higher than they used to be. I don’t know that Warrior was the only one either. I say that, but I really mean it now that I think it’s common knowledge that Vince was a bi$exual predator.
I mean that, and I think that’s probably why I only got the (WWF World Heavyweight) Title 5 times.”
Marty Jannetty Reacts To Bret Hart’s Claim Of Shawn Michaels Sleeping With Vince McMahon
Marty Jannetty spoke about the recent claim from Bret Hart suggesting that Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon may have had a $exual relationship. When the topic was brought up during Jannetty’s interview on the “Monte & The Pharaoh” podcast, Jannetty didn’t downplay the rumor.
Jannetty responded, “They might have. They might have, but that’s not a secret in the wrestling world amongst the boys. That wasn’t a surprise.” He emphasized that while he couldn’t speak for everyone, he personally never viewed Shawn as anything but straight during their years together on the road.
In fact, Jannetty said he and Shawn were inseparable for years, living the nonstop lifestyle of WWF’s demanding schedule, and he never once saw anything that made him question Shawn’s $exuality:
“We were on the road 300 days a year. And never, not even once did we come home without, you know, any girls. It’s a hotel – that was home. Never did we come home without a girl and he laid over in his bed and said, ‘Man, I wonder what it’d be like to a suck a d**k’… (laughs) I mean, never.”
However, Jannetty did confirm that there were people – particularly one older male fan – who were very interested in Shawn. He told a long-standing story about a man named Ronnie who followed the wrestlers in the Tennessee territory and was known for being enamored with certain performers.
“Ronnie was an older man that he would come to Tennessee, you know, to the territory there and see the guys,” Jannetty recalled. “He had from one to ten… and he would have the guys in the order he liked them. And Shawn was always right up there at the front with Ricky Morton and Buff Bagwell.”
The story became infamous behind the scenes because Ronnie supposedly spent significant money on young wrestlers, especially Shawn. Jannetty remembered how their lack of money made the situation even more noticeable. “We weren’t making no money, man. I couldn’t afford a room by myself,” he said. One night, while Jannetty paid for his own room, Shawn stayed with Ronnie.
The next morning, Shawn showed up decked out in expensive gear. “He shows up the next day with a full-length leather jacket, leather pants… he had a snake skin, whatever it was, boots,” Jannetty said. “I’m like, ‘Where’d you get money? How’s this happen?’ Oh, you spend the night with Ronnie. Okay.”
Jannetty emphasized that despite rumors or stories surrounding Shawn, he never witnessed Shawn do anything with Ronnie or any man. Instead, he reiterated repeatedly that Shawn was consistently with women. “Everybody thinks and says he is… but we never came home without a girl. Ricky Morton would tell me, ‘You know he’s a f**king fa**ot. You know he’s a fa**ot (laughs),’” he said.
He also remembered how Ronnie would get frustrated that Shawn wasn’t reacting to his advances. “Ronnie would get mad, you know, ‘cause Shawn’s not putting out yet. When he’d get mad: ‘I’m moving him down to number two, number three.’” Jannetty laughed about how Ronnie even asked him for advice: “He used to ask me too, ‘What am I doing wrong, Marty?’ I mean, I don’t know how to tell you to get with him.”
Through all of it, Jannetty’s stance was consistent: whatever Bret Hart claimed, and whatever fans throughout the years speculated, he personally never saw Shawn engage in anything other than relationships with women. “We were together 300 days a year,” he said. “You get to know somebody when you drive with them, sleep with them – not sleep with them, but you know, same hotel room… eat with them. I know him real well.”
