WWE Superstars with football backgrounds have a long history in the company, and a recent event highlighted this connection once again.
At a University of Colorado football game, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg and Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker were spotted together, capturing a memorable moment.
WWE proudly shared their photo on social media, highlighting their shared football-to-wrestling journey:
Goldberg’s son, Gage, plays for the team under Coach Prime, and Goldberg has been actively involved in his son’s career, even attending practices to offer support.
Breakker played college football for Kennesaw State before briefly signing with the Baltimore Ravens.
Goldberg, a former University of Georgia defensive tackle, played for the Atlanta Falcons until an injury ended his NFL career, which led to his successful transition to professional wrestling.
During an interview on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, Goldberg talked about his relationship with Breakker, who is Rick Steiner’s son.
Here’s what the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion said:
“Love him. He had my tattoo, I think at some point he had to cover it up and change it. They tried to mold him after me a bit at the training facility. We had conversations throughout. We’re pretty close.
The kid’s a freaking freak. He can’t get any taller, (but) he’s a freak. His is force equals mass time acceleration. His whole deal is explosion, and that’s what makes him different.
He shines in an area where people don’t. He rises to the top because he’s different and takes it seriously, he’s physical, and he’s got a great head on his shoulders.”
Goldberg was last seen in WWE at Elimination Chamber 2022, where he lost to Roman Reigns in a match for the Universal Championship.
