• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (July 16, 2001) – Old School Wrestling Legend Passed Away

On this day in 2001, we lost Old School Wrestling Legend Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy at the age of 40 due to a heart attack.

Gordy is mostly remembered as a member of The Fabulous Freebirds and got posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame with other Freebirds: Michael Hayes, Buddy Roberts & Jimmy Garvin in 2016.

The famous faction even had a short stint in the World Wrestling Federation in 1984, but after a few weeks they were gone from the promotion.

However, Terry Gordy was last seen on WWF TV in 1996-1997 on his own, this time under a mask as The Executioner, feuding with the legendary Undertaker.

• Bully Ray Reveals What Happened After The Infamous Jeff Hardy – Sting TNA Match

At TNA Victory Road 2011, Sting vs. Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship was the main event of the show.

Jeff was under the influence during the match and couldn’t wrestle, so the match ended in less than 2 minutes.

You can watch it below:

During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley (Bully Ray), who was in TNA at the time, discussed this incident and what happened after it.

Below is what he said:

“I remember when Jeff Hardy had the problem, you know, in the match against Sting. Remember that debacle in TNA? I remember when Jeff came back to the company and [TNA] made him apologize to the locker room.

They put Jeff in front of the whole locker room and he just kind of apologized, like, I’m really sorry, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Then they said at the end of the meeting, ‘Does anybody have anything to say?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I do.’ I said, ‘Jeff, I really couldn’t care less about all of these things that went on. All I care about is that you can still hit your finish. Now let’s go out there and make some money’.

All of this outside stuff is noise; we’re performers. When your music hits, you get in there, you perform, you tear the house down, and then you go home.”
