Former WWE signing and Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson has signed with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills as per Adam Schefter. Below is what he tweeted:
“Gable Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist and one of the most dominant college wrestlers in NCAA history, is signing with the Bills, per his agent Carter Chow. Steveson now will try to join Bob Hayes as the only athlete to win a Super Bowl ring and an Olympic gold medal.”
Steveson told ESPN the following about his next career move:
“I have been fortunate to compete at the highest level of competition in my sport but am looking forward to the challenge of seeing how my wrestling skills may translate to football.
I am grateful to Coach [Sean] McDermott, [general manager] Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills organization for giving me this opportunity.”
After this news came out, a Twitter user posted:
“Uh…what position he playing? lol”
Recently released WWE wrestler Cameron Grimes (Trevor Lee) replied:
“Whichever one requires the least amount of work and has other people make him look good I’m assuming? Wait wrong sport…”
Steveson was recently released by the WWE. Initial reports suggested that he struggled to meet the expected standards of improvement at the Performance Center, a factor that likely contributed to his departure.
