Nikki Bella’s husband, Artem Chigvintsev, was arrested for felony corporal injury to a spouse following a reported “medical emergency” at his home in Napa, California.
Corporal injury refers to any physical harm caused by the use of force that leads to a traumatic condition. The injury can range from minor to severe and may include bruises, sprains, fractures, cuts, internal bleeding, or concussions. The type of force used is irrelevant, and it doesn’t need to involve a weapon.

The initial emergency call was made around 8:30 AM, but was later canceled by someone at the house before paramedics arrived. At 10 AM, Chigvintsev was arrested after visible injuries were observed on the alleged victim.
The alleged victim is cooperating with police, and investigators are now exploring whether there is a history of domestic violence involving Chigvintsev.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of gathering more information, including potential witness statements, and plans to discuss the case with prosecutors to consider possible criminal charges against Chigvintsev. The name of the alleged victim has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
Artem was released from Napa County Jail after he posted a bail of $25,000.
After this incident, AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson (brother-in-law of Nikki Bella) has unfollowed Artem on Instagram. Artem still follows Bryan.
Nikki’s representative issued the following statement regarding this matter on her behalf:
“This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time.”
The radio dispatch from the Artem domestic violence case reveals that Chigvintsev called 911 to request medical assistance, stating that his wife had thrown shoes at him.
TMZ obtained the dispatch call, where the dispatcher says, “Initially came in as requesting medical, but now he is stating he got into an argument with his wife and his wife threw shoes at rp (reporting party).” The dispatcher also noted, “There is a child on scene. Medical en route,” and mentioned, “There’s an active 415 (disturbing the peace) in the background responsible.”
Chigvintsev later canceled the request for medical help, which the dispatcher confirmed, stating, “RP is stating no medical is needed now.” Despite this, police arrived an hour later, observed visible injuries on the alleged victim, and arrested Artem for felony corporal injury to a spouse.
Nikki & Artem’s close friends revealed that their relationship has always been “volatile,” with frequent verbal arguments but no known history of physical altercations until now. The main issues reportedly involved control and belittlement within the marriage.
In 2021, Nikki revealed during a podcast that she and Artem went to couples therapy because she didn’t like the way Artem talked to her and the tone that he used.
Currently, Chigvintsev is not staying in their Napa Valley home, while Bella is caring for their 4-year-old son, Matteo.
