Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.
• In 2022, WWE President Nick Khan made a pivotal decision to shake up the scheduling of PLEs. Breaking away from convention, Khan mandated that most PLEs would now take place on Saturdays, with the exception of the second night of WrestleMania. This directive, while surprising to many, reflected Khan’s strategic vision for WWE’s future direction.
Recent statements from UFC CEO Dana White have hinted at an intriguing development in WWE’s event scheduling. Speaking at a post-show press conference following a UFC Fight Night event in St. Louis, White revealed that WWE is poised to reintroduce Sunday night PLEs as part of a coordinated plan with UFC.
This strategy would see UFC events held on Saturdays, followed by WWE PLEs on Sundays, offering fans a weekend double-header of combat sports entertainment.
Here’s what White said:
“Yeah, we already have those dates set up right now, where Power Slap goes Friday and UFC goes Saturday. And then you’re going to see Friday, Power Slap, Saturday, UFC, and Sunday, WWE. You’ll start seeing that stuff, too.”
WATCH: Extra Close Up Footage Of Zelina Vega (Malakai Black’s Wife) In A Revealing Costume:
• Yet another wrestler has been pulled from the Queen of the Ring 2024 tournament due to injury.
Zelina Vega is injured and has been pulled from the tournament. Her replacement is going to be Maxxine Dupri, who will face Shayna Baszler at tonight’s WWE Live Event in a tournament match.
Here’s what RAW General Manager Adam Pearce said:
“WWE Universe, RAW General Manager Adam Pierce coming to you live from Macon, Georgia, where tonight on our Supershow, we will feature both King and Queen of the Ring first-round matches. But with that, I have a bit of unfortunate injury news.
Zelina Vega, who will not be medically cleared to compete tonight, and therefore, will be stepping out of the Queen of the Ring tournament, which is unfortunate given her past history as a Queen of the Ring. It would have been nice to see her try to regain that crown.
But injury bug strikes again, which opens the door to opportunity for one, Maxxine Dupri, who will receive the biggest opportunity of her young career as she will step in tonight against Shayna Baszler.
Once again, Zelina Vega out. Maxxine Dupre in. Anything can happen in WWE, and it will tonight. Injuries happen, guys. That’s just the way it is. Changes need to be made, and this one is official.”
