AEW President Tony Khan ran wild on Twitter due to AEW Dynamite losing to WWE NXT. NXT defeated AEW in the ratings war as WWE’s third brand drew 921,000 viewers with a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demo, while Dynamite drew 603,000 viewers with a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demo.
Tony got personal with WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H and NXT Head Of Creative Shawn Michaels by taking multiple shots at them.
He went a step further and even took shots at John Cena and The Undertaker.
Jim Cornette witnessed Tony’s social media meltdown and said the following on his podcast:
“He’s on Cagematch and he’s on Twitter – he just fired his biggest star, but he got another one to replace him, Edge, and he’s about to make his TV debut on a show that’s gonna get its f**king a$$ kicked in the goddamn ratings, and he’s got time to do this?
I can tell you with some level of certainty from having experienced it, when you’ve got all kinds of stress and a lot of sh*t pi$$ing you off, sometimes it’s one of the most minor little things that just sends you bubbling right over the top of ‘pi$$ed off hill’ into ‘violence valley’.
And then you either, since Tony’s not a violent person, you either lash out with a baseball bat or you get on Twitter I guess. But it could be a little thing on top of a whole mountain of bigger things. But he may need rest, confinement, treatment, counseling, chemicals, some of these things.”
Now, a Superstar from All Elite Wrestling, the first ever AEW World Champion – Chris Jericho – has commented on how Tony behaved after losing to NXT.
Below is what Jericho said during an interview with The Messenger:
“I learned years ago that bosses are going to be bosses, and billionaires are going to be billionaires. I’ve been working for billionaires for 25 years. At this point, you can’t control Tony Khan. He’s going to do what he wants to do and God bless him. He created this company. He runs this company. He also grew up in the social media era.
I’m not going to tell him, ‘Take your phone away,’ because he’s my boss. Say what you want. Whatever. I think it’d be worse if I said that stuff because I’m not the boss, you know?
Tony Khan owns AEW. He can do what he wants. I’m not going to tell him no.”
