Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring Chris Jericho and Ronda Rousey.

• On his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho revealed that his first WWF contract in 1999 was guaranteed at $450,000 a year.

This was less than what WCW offered him, but Y2J didn’t care. Jericho explained why:

“Walking into that dressing room, I had a fairly good guarantee: I got paid $450 grand a year guaranteed to come in, which was a lot less than WCW was offering me, but I didn’t care about the money. I just cared about the opportunity.

It was a lot more than a lot of people were making in WWE so at the time, guaranteed contracts were just starting to become a thing, which is so laughable when you think about it now.

I have kind of a target on my back of this ‘hot young upstart coming in, he’s interrupting The Rock, he’s got this big push, this big contract.’

There was kind of a lot of odds stacked against me when I first walked into the dressing room.”

• Ronda Rousey has consistently used “Bad Reputation” by Joan Jett as her entrance theme for both her UFC fights and WWE appearances.

At WrestleMania 35, Joan Jett even performed the song live as Rousey made her way to the ring for the main event.

During a Reddit AMA, Rousey was praised for her theme choice. She responded:

“Thank you! I am very appreciative of the WWE shelling out the money every time they had to play it lol — John Laurinaitis suggested I change it to save money and I said ‘no.'”
