• Chris Jericho Says AEW’s Rally Near SmackDown Wasn’t A Coincidence – AEW Wanted To Send WWE A Message

During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Old School WWF Legend Chris Jericho talked about why he signed with All Elite Wrestling, AEW’s rally near SmackDown not being a coincidence & more.

Below are the highlights:

On why he signed with AEW:

“I guess it is kind of doing this my way and not being afraid to try different things and not being afraid of change I guess which I think is the number one enemy of guys in this job, being scared to take a chance and try something new and do something different. Whether that be a gimmick you do in the ring or a different kind of match or signing with a different company. So I guess all signs point in that direction so you’re kinda right on that.”

On AEW’s rally near SmackDown not being a coincidence:

“I was laughing because that fireworks display that they set up on top of the Jacksonville stadium and it was like the end of a WrestleMania or the beginning of a WrestleMania. I had no idea, it was a huge pyro display.

I just know that in that Jacksonville arena somewhere the Old Man was in there going, ‘Will you shut that pyro off! God damn it! I’m trying to do a meeting here, trying to run a show!’

But yeah, it was very strange and obviously no coicidence that it was run on the same day WWE was in Jacksonville. It’s one of those things that if you’re gonna send a message and you’re going to do things a certain way, do it the right way and that was making a real statement.”
