Below are some top news stories of the day, involving Chris Jericho and Undertaker.

• AEW’s FTW Champion Chris Jericho will wrestle in a CMLL ring for the first time since 1995.

Jericho announced via a video shared on Twitter by CMLL that he will face Mistico (the original Sin Cara in WWE) at CMLL’s 91st Anniversary show on September 13. This follows Jericho’s surprise appearance at a CMLL event on June 28, where he attacked Mistico.

Jericho, known as Corazón de León during his early career in Mexico, previously wrestled in CMLL for several years before moving to ECW and later WCW. While in CMLL, he won the NWA World Middleweight Championship.

• Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels are often defined by the infamous “Montreal Screwjob” at Survivor Series 1997, a moment where Hart was deceived into losing the WWF Championship to Michaels.

The Undertaker reflected on this incident on his “Six Feet Under” podcast, stating, “It’s just one of those situations. Really unfortunate. They both had such great, stellar careers, phenomenal careers. And you get asked about one political hit job… I guess it’s great for the marks to talk and argue about… but I feel bad for Shawn and Bret.”

The aftermath saw Hart holding resentment until Vince McMahon extended goodwill gestures, starting with a phone call post-Hart’s stroke and later inducting him into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006. Hart and Michaels reconciled when Hart returned to WWE in 2010, even making peace with referee Earl Hebner, who was aware of the planned double-cross.

The Undertaker added, “I’m friends with both [Shawn and Bret]. I think the world of both of those guys. I’m glad everybody’s kind of in a different spot now. But it really sucked that had to happen.”

His co-host, Matt Lyda, noted that Hart’s enthusiasm waned after joining WCW, to which Undertaker responded, “If he doesn’t get hurt, you never know what happens. But when your heart’s not in something like that, it’s tough, man.”
