On this day in Pro Wrestling history on July 16, 1994, ECW hosted “Heatwave 1994: The Battle for The Future” in the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The debut edition and first ever annual Extreme Championship Wrestling Heatwave event saw 2 main events including a Heavyweight Title defense and a Barbed Wire Tag Team match.

Shane Douglas had to defend his ECW Heavyweight Championship (not yet considered a “World Title”!) against #1 contender “The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal, Death–Defying Maniac” Sabu, while Old School NWA Legends & former NWA World Heavyweight Champions Terry Funk & Dory Funk Jr. wrestled Public Enemy in a brutal Barbed Wire match.

Here are the complete results from that night:

Axl Rotten & Ian Rotten defeated Hack Meyers & Rockin’ Rebel

ECW Television Championship: Mikey Whipwreck defeated Chad Austin via DQ

Tommy Dreamer defeated Stevie Richards

Mr. Hughes defeated Tommy Dreamer

Sabu & Tazmaniac defeated The Pitbulls

Dueling canes match: The Sandman defeated Tommy Cairo

ECW Heavyweight Championship: Shane Douglas defeated Sabu via count-out

Barbed Wire match: Public Enemy defeated Dory Funk Jr. & Terry Funk

• CM Punk Being Teased For A New WWE Game

WWE’s next Mobile Video Game, WWE Racing ShowDown, is set to release on Android and iOS soon. The game is in preview beta now and sees players take on the roles of WWE wrestlers on motorcycles as they try to take out other competitors in a race.

The game is only available to be downloaded in India currently. More countries will get the access to it soon.

WWE Racing ShowDown’s official Twitter account posted the names of some wrestlers who’ll be in the game, and they also included the name of former WWE Champion CM Punk.

“The Superstar Reveal!! Choose your favourite Superstar, smackdown your opponents and race fearlessly to victory! #RomanReigns #CMPunk #WrestleMania #SuperShowDown #RoyalRumble #EDGE #SethRollins #DrewMcintyre #RandyOrton #AJStyles #BrayWyatt #DanielBryan #SummerSlam”

While this could just be a stunt to get more publicity for the game, we can never count out the possibility of Punk being a part of the game, especially after he worked on a WWE affiliate show (WWE Backstage).
