William Regal made his AEW debut at the Revolution 2022 pay-per-view after being released from WWE at the end of 2021.

Regal showed up after Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley’s match to set up the formation of the Blackpool Combat Club.

CM Punk was apparently not happy with Regal joining AEW because of his close relationship with WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H. Regal and Triple H worked together for several years in NXT.

According to Bodyslam, Punk refused to shake Regal’s hand when Regal made his All Elite Wrestling debut, and then got in his face to tell him that he did not like or trust him, and that he was a “stooge for Triple H”.

Regal parted ways with AEW at the end of 2022 and returned to WWE earlier this year.

This may create difficulties for Punk if he ever wants to return to WWE because Regal is in a strong position there now.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Punk wanted to go to WWE 10 months ago, thinking that he could get a buyout from AEW. However, WWE was not interested in bringing him back.

WWE signing Punk was a complicated situation last year, but he’s a free agent now and the feeling within the company may change as it will now be run by Endeavor.

In addition, Punk even visited RAW in Chicago earlier this year to make amends with Triple H and The Miz and also met several other talents.

There are still top talents in WWE like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and AJ Styles who have publicly expressed their dislike for Punk in the past, so WWE doing business with him seems like a tricky and unexpected situation overall.
