Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring CM Punk and Jake Paul.
• CM Punk has landed a recurring role in Syfy’s upcoming supernatural series ‘Revival’, as reported by Variety.
The series, based on the acclaimed Image Comics series by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, is currently filming in New Brunswick, Canada. Punk joins a cast featuring Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, Andy McQueen, and The Walking Dead’s Steven Ogg. Punk’s character details are being kept under wraps, adding intrigue to his involvement.
According to the show’s synopsis, Revival is a unique twist on undead tales. Set in rural Wisconsin, the dead mysteriously rise on a single miraculous day, but instead of turning into zombies, the “revived” appear unsettlingly normal. The story centers on Dana Cypress, played by Scrofano, a local officer and single mother drawn into a grisly murder investigation in a town brimming with secrets where no one—living or dead—is beyond suspicion.
This isn’t Punk’s first acting venture. He previously portrayed Ricky Rabies in Starz’s Heels and appeared in FX’s Mayans MC. In horror, he starred in The Girl on the Third Floor and Jakob’s Wife and will appear in the upcoming comedy-horror Night Patrol. As a dedicated comic book fan, Punk’s familiarity with the Revival source material makes this role a natural fit.
The series is being developed for television by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce, who also serve as executive producers and showrunners.
