One of the biggest stories heading into WrestleMania 41 is not related to wrestling, but the fact that Roman Reigns told Vanity Fair that he voted for Donald Trump.
Prior to that, Triple H praised Trump on the Flagrant podcast:
“I think Trump’s ability… like him or hate him, the way he does it… but he’s charismatic in so many ways. He likes getting under people’s skin, generating [heat]. It’s amazing and it’s genius, and it worked in our business.
There’s a lot of billionaires in the world, why was he the most famous one? Why was he the one that was in People Magazine every week and with everybody under the sun? Because of his charisma and his character and who he is, and the way he can speak about it and do all those things—he just captivates people.”
During an interview on The Ringer Wrestling Show, CM Punk said the following about WWE’s stance on politics:
“I don’t think the company wants us to be outwardly political, right? Like, I don’t think, and I do feel there’s probably different rules for different people. I don’t talk about politics with Triple H. I don’t talk about politics with Paul Heyman. I don’t talk about politics with Roxanne Perez. You know what I mean?
It’s just 24/7 wrestling. I think it’s pretty obvious what my, quote unquote, politics are. I’ve never understood Democrat or Republican, like glazing the President. You know, President should just kind of do his job. And like if you’re wearing hats and shirts promoting the President and all that stuff.
And we have very much seen recently that all these people have voted against their best interests because they thought this President was going to just do bad, stupid sh*t to the people that they don’t like.”
After Triple H and Roman Reigns openly praised Trump, some fans claimed that WWE is a “MAGA company”. Punk had the following to say about that:
“I’m just supposed to quit my job because what? Because somebody on Twitter says WWE is a, quote unquote, ‘MAGA company’. Okay, well, you’re on Lord Elon Musk’s f**king Twitter saying stupid sh*t like, shut the f**k up.”
