• Old School WWF Veteran Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF Veteran Pat Tanaka (Real name: Patrick Tanaka) celebrates his 57th birthday today.

After years in the AWA, Tanaka joined the World Wrestling Federation in 1990 as one half of Mr. Fuji’s Tag Team ‘The Orient Express’.

When his team partner Akio Sato left in late 1990, Tanaka’s old AWA team partner Paul Diamond replaced him, going by the name of Kato, but was wearing a mask to keep the Asian gimmick intact.

Fun Fact: While wrestling for Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling during the mid-90s, they gave Tanaka an entrance theme song, that eventually ended up becoming Bill Goldberg’s – now legendary – theme song.

• CM Punk Reacts To RAW Underground

Last night on FS1, during a Watch Along for SummerSlam 1992 with CM Punk, Booker T, and Renee Young, the topic of RAW Underground came up.

CM Punk had the following to say about this concept:

“I absolutely loved it. I want to see Nia Jax in there. They should get more women in there. Let us see some bodies getting broken.

The idea that Shane McMahon and all these people would be in the Performance Center for the whole three hours and they cut into what they’re doing in various segments is pretty cool. Three hours of no holds barred fights and strippers, that’s all I want to see.”

Booker T then said this concept might bring Punk back to WWE:

“As soon as I saw the preview – a shoot-fighting concept and all, bringing the noise – the first person I thought of was CM Punk. I know the money has to be right, but maybe this thing will lure Punk back to WWE.”

Punk then replied:

“You want me to get that first MMA win, right?”
