• CM Punk Will Be Available For AEW Soon
While CM Punk is currently suspended from AEW due to the All Out 2022 backstage fight, he is also out of action due to an injury.
In the main event of All Out 2022, Punk defeated Jon Moxley to become a 2-time AEW World Champion. Punk suffered a triceps injury during this bout.
While discussing how AEW is lacking top babyfaces to feud with MJF for the World Title, the Wrestling Observer discussed how Tony Khan can bring Punk back as Punk will heal from his injury soon (he underwent surgery for it):
“They are lacking in that babyface position, something fierce. They had a shot with MJF, obviously, they did the double-cross on that. MJF was great as a heel, but they don’t have the guy. That’s one of the reasons. Punk’s not gonna be the guy either.
I know some people might say, ‘Well, Punk’s coming back.’ Punk may come back. He will be available to come back if they want to use him in a couple of months. It’s not like it’s so far in the future.
Of course, if they were to bring Punk back, that opens up a lot of other issues that we can talk about another day. That’s the weakness. There’s no easy answer to this. It’s not like you can snap your fingers and create a babyface.”
MJF is currently scheduled to defend the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson (fka Daniel Bryan in WWE) in a 60-minute Iron Man Match at the AEW Revolution 2023 pay-per-view on March 5th.
