CM Punk returned to the ring at tonight’s WWE Live Event at Madison Square Garden for a singles match.
He faced former 2-time NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day and won after hitting a GTS. Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley accompanied Dirty Dom.

This was Punk’s first WWE match since the 2014 Royal Rumble match. In the post-match promo, he said the following:
“When I win the Royal Rumble and go on to main event WrestleMania, that isn’t me finishing my story… that’s just me getting started.”

Prior to the match, he issued the following statement on Instagram stories:
“Grateful for all the fans who have carried me to the greatest moments. Thankful for the legends that paved the roads I travel. I wouldn’t be who I am without all of you. Thank you. ‘So goes the Garden, so goes the business’.”
Around 16,000 fans were in attendance, which was WWE’s highest recorded attendance at Madison Square Garden in over 8 years.
CM Punk’s next match will now be at the December 30th WWE Live Event in Inglewood, where he’ll face Dominik once again.
Punk is scheduled to return to TV on the January 8th episode of RAW in Portland.
After that, he will appear on the January 22nd RAW in New Orleans, before
entering the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match on January 27th.
