CM Punk was fired from AEW last month after an investigation was carried out into the fight between him and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry backstage at AEW All In back in August.

There have been rumors about Punk wanting to return to WWE, and those rumors are gaining momentum as Survivor Series comes closer, because the Premium Live Event is scheduled to take place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago this year.

While there’s interest from Punk’s side, reports from WWE’s side indicate that the company is not interested in bringing him back and talks between the two sides are currently dead. This is said to be the decision of WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon.

While nothing is confirmed yet, Punk’s return to WWE was teased at last night’s Cage Fury Fighting Championship (CFFC) 126 event (which aired on UFC Fight Pass).

Punk was on commentary for the event and his co-commentator said the following about the former AEW World Champion:

“We got CM Punk here tonight. He may be going to other promotions, who knows?”

Punk then mentioned the month of November, when Survivor Series is set to take place and what was interesting to note is that his co-commentator never mentioned a date when saying Punk would be going to another promotion, and Punk brought up the date himself.

You can also hear the theme of last year’s Survivor Series “War Pigs” in the background, which seems to be quite a remarkable coincidence.
