• Old School Wrestling Legend Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 77th birthday of Old School WWF/NWA Legend “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff (Real name: Oreal Donald Perras).

In 1971, he defeated then WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Bruno Sammartino for the Title in what is said to be an even more shocking moment than what we witnessed at WrestleMania XXX when Brock Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s 21-0 undefeated WrestleMania streak.

Those who were in Madison Square Garden on January 18, 1971 said that you could hear a needle drop after Koloff had defeated Bruno via pinfall.

The Russian Bear has yet to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, a very deserving honor that they missed out on while he was still alive.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & REST IN PEACE

• Cody Rhodes On Why Stardust Gimmick Didn’t Work

All Elite Wrestling Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes addressed his Stardust gimmick from WWE on Twitter and blamed himself for the gimmick not working.

Below is what Cody wrote:

“I don’t really blame him [Vince McMahon] more than I blame myself. I worked hard, but at the time…not hard enough. To go from undesirable to undeniable took a lot sacrifices, reality checks, & most importantly I had to do the damn work. I don’t want to be anything less than the guy at the top.”

Cody also went on to explain why he doesn’t use his father’s Bionic Elbow move:
