Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Cody Rhodes, Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill.
• At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes finally finished the story by winning the WWE Championship, which his father Dusty Rhodes never won. Reflecting on that night during an interview on The Pivot Podcast, Rhodes revealed his tribute to his father following the victory.
“At ‘Mania, I had a brief moment where I … looked up and said, ‘Sorry it took me so long,'” Rhodes stated. “I think I had planned on saying a bazillion other things, but that’s really how I felt. Like, ‘Hey, this is really cool. Your widow — she’s in the ring. My mom. Your family’s taken care of. Generationally, we’re set up, but sorry it took so long.'”
Dusty Rhodes, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 69, always saw the potential in Cody to become a major wrestling star. Cody finally won a major World Title at age 38, which he felt took longer than it should have.
After Dusty’s death, Cody left WWE in 2016, had a successful independent run, co-founded All Elite Wrestling, and returned to WWE in 2022, making it clear he aimed to win the title his father never did.
Rhodes also mentioned that he became hesitant to frequently invoke his father’s name leading up to WrestleMania, noticing fans’ fatigue with the references. He chose to wait for the right moment, though few people, including WWE commentary, picked up on his subtle shout-out.

During an interview with Adrian Hernandez, Tiffany was asked about this video and she finally addressed the situation:
“It was an honest mistake. I didn’t hear the audio. I had it up for maybe 20 seconds and I deleted it instantly as soon as I heard the audio. It was an honest mistake.”
