On this day in Pro Wrestling history on August 27, 1990, the World Wrestling Federation aired ‘WWF SummerSlam 1990’ LIVE on PPV from the Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Tugboat was supposed to be in Hulk Hogan’s corner, but was attacked by Earthquake & Dino Bravo on an episode of WWF Superstars of Wrestling, so he had to be replaced with The Big Bossman.

The pay-per-view had the tagline “The Heat Returns”.

Queen Sherri defeated Sapphire via forfeit

Jake Roberts defeated Bad News Brown via DQ

Below are the results from this week’s Thursday night special episode of AEW Dynamite:

– FTR won a Gauntlet Match to become the #1 Contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at All Out PPV

– Lance Archer def. Sean Maluta

– AEW announced that Casino Battle Royale will return at All Out with the winner getting a future AEW World Title Match. Lance Archer and Darby Allin are the first two participants for the match

– Lance Archer & Brian Cage get into an argument over who will stand tall in the Casino Battle Royale. Darby Allin came out and went right after Ricky Starks

– Hikaru Shida vs. Thunder Rosa for the AEW Women’s World Championship got made official for All Out

– Jon Moxley & MJF have a Contract Signing segment fo All Out. MJF said he grew up admiring wrestlers like Buddy Rogers & Tully Blanchard, while Moxley grew up admiring hot garbage like Sandman, New Jack, and John Sandig. MJF told Moxley to tell his hot wife (Renee Young) that he’s single.

Moxley agreed that he won’t use the Paradigm Shift at All Out, and said he added his own stipulation. Moxley gets to face MJF’s Lawyer next week and if he refuses, MJF won’t get his match at All Out

– The Lucha Bros, The Butcher & The Blade def. Joey Janela, Sonny Kiss, Brian Pillman Jr, & Griff Garrison (After the match, Eddie Kingston announced that all 5 of them will compete in the Casino Battle Royale, and vows one of them will win)

– Brodie Lee celebrated his TNT Championship win and claimed Dark Order have buried The Nightmare Family. Brodie said there will be no more TNT Title Open Challenges, and said he’s the hottest champion in wrestling today

– Matt Cardona, Scorpio Sky, Dustin Rhodes, & QT Marshall fought the Dark Order

– Young Bucks were upset with Hangman Page for costing them the Gauntlet Match, and kicked him out of The Elite

– Big Swole def. Reba & Penelope Ford in a Handicap Match (After the match, Dark Order offered Tay Conti to join them, and she accepted)

– Sammy Guevara def. Matt Hardy in a Tables Match (Orange Cassidy attacked Chris Jericho after the match)
