– Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman kicked off tonight’s SmackDown. Heyman was doing the introduction and Jey Uso interrupted.
Jey called out Solo for stabbing his older brother in the back last week. Heyman then said this is not Solo’s fault, this is Jimmy Uso’s fault.
Heyman said Roman wants to groom Jey for the next Tribal Chief and Jimmy has known about this since day one and he has resented Jey for this ever since.
Paul then said The Usos no longer exist, but Jey will bring home gold tonight, as Roman has arranged a United States Championship match for Jey against Austin Theory for tonight.
Tonight begins Jey’s road to becoming the Heavyweight Champion. Heyman then said:
“When the time is right, Jey Uso, you will become The Tribal Chief.”
Jey accepted the US Title challenge. Heyman then offered a handshake and Jey said he’ll get back to him on that.
– Santos Escobar def. Mustafa Ali to qualify for the Men’s Money In The Bank 2023 Ladder Match
LA Knight joined commentary for this match. LWO celebrated with Santos after the match.
– Sami Zayn met Jey Uso backstage. Sami said his time in The Bloodline was some of the best times of his life, and it’s probably the same for Jey.
Zayn warned Jey that bad things happen when “The Tribal Chief” moniker comes into play. Sami said he hopes Jey wins the US Title tonight, but advised him to think very hard about his decision.
– Kayla Braxton introduced NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler interrupted.
Ronda said this division isn’t big enough for them, so they want to take over Alba & Isla’s division too.
The NXT champs accepted a Title Unification challenge. Alba & Isla attacked them and the WWE Women’s Tag Team champs retreated.
– Bayley def. “Michin” Mia Yim to qualify for the Women’s Money In The Bank 2023 Ladder Match
After the match, Scarlett blew a red powder in AJ Styles’ face and then Karrion Kross put Styles in the Kross Jacket.
– Bianca Belair asked Adam Pearce for a title rematch against Asuka.
– Adam Pearce gave Asuka the new WWE Women’s Championship and Charlotte Flair returns. This is Charlotte’s first appearance since her WrestleMania 39 loss.
Pearce told Charlotte has to wait in line. Charlotte said she doesn’t do that as she made the line. Charlotte then challenged Asuka for the Title. Asuka accepted.
Asuka spit the mist, but missed. Charlotte then smashed Asuka’s head on the podium.
– Adam Pearce is on the phone backstage and is looking to book Asuka vs. Charlotte for Money In The Bank. Bianca Belair heard this and wasn’t happy.
– Paul Heyman told Jey Uso backstage that there will be 3 celebrations next week. Roman Reigns will appear LIVE, Jey’s US Title victory celebration and Roman announcing that Jey will be the next Tribal Chief when the time is right.
Jey then said if he’s going to choose to stay in The Bloodline, Heyman will have to leave.
– Butch def. Baron Corbin to qualify for the Men’s Money In The Bank 2023 Ladder Match
NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams were seated ringside for this match. Corbin punched Trick after the match and a brawl broke out.
– Cameron Grimes attacked Baron Corbin backstage.
– IYO SKY def. Shotzi to qualify for the Women’s Money In The Bank 2023 Ladder Match
– Pretty Deadly, Brawling Brutes, The O.C., The LWO and The Street Profits confronted Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn backstage.
– Austin Theory (c) def. Jey Uso to retain the United States Championship
Pretty Deadly interfered in the match and attacked Jey. This led to Jimmy Uso making the save. Solo Sikoa then interfered and attacked Jimmy. Jimmy accidentally super kicked Jey, which resulted in Theory pinning Jey to win.

Jey was angry with Jimmy and pushed him away. Jey then had a staredown with Paul Heyman & Solo, but just left without choosing any side.
