Former UFC 2-Division World Champion Conor McGregor has announced plans to delay his MMA return, stating he has agreed to an exhibition boxing match against WWE Superstar Logan Paul in India, facilitated by the Ambani family.

McGregor, absent from fighting since a leg injury in 2021, was previously set to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 earlier this year, but withdrew due to a foot injury. He denied rumors of a fight with UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria.

Here’s what McGregor tweeted:

“The rumors of a bout with topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India.

I have agreed.

I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”

While Logan Paul hasn’t responded, his brother Jake Paul claimed McGregor’s team has approached him for a fight. Jake dismissed the idea unless the UFC is involved, calling McGregor “washed” and asserting Logan would dominate him:

“As we told them privately & I’m now saying it publicly… the only way we’re willing to explore me vs Conor in a pro boxing / mma fight is if Dana White / UFC are at the table directly or make it clear they are ok with discussions. Conor is washed. Needs the Pauls. Logan by however he wants.”

Logan, a YouTuber turned Boxer, has four exhibition fights, including bouts with KSI and Floyd Mayweather, but is now more recognized for his WWE success, where he held the United States Championship.

McGregor’s boxing experience includes a 2017 loss to Mayweather.

Recently, McGregor was ordered to pay €248,000 ($257,000) after being found liable in a civil case regarding a 2018 $exual assault allegation. He maintains the encounter was consensual and plans to appeal the decision. While not facing criminal charges, the case has impacted McGregor’s endorsements.
