In the main event of this week’s RAW, Seth Rollins defeated Jinder Mahal (who was accompanied by Veer & Sanga of Indus Sher) to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
According to Sean Ross Sapp, Rollins sustained a torn MCL and a partially torn meniscus during this match.
During a commercial break on last night’s SmackDown, WWE announced that Rollins will kick off RAW to address his future.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship is still on for WrestleMania 40:
“As of an hour ago, Seth Rollins and Punk are still scheduled for WrestleMania. As far as that could change? Yes. I was told yes, it could change, but it’s up in the air. But right now, he’s still on WrestleMania.
I heard yesterday he was pulled from some house shows. And whatever, how long to be determined. But it’s a significant injury, but we don’t know how significant, I mean, as far as, like, how long he’ll be out right now. But, yeah, so that’s the basic gist of it.
And decisions will have to be made. If it’s a month thing, though, they should probably just go with their plans. If it’s, you know, going to be two months or more, I mean, you could always do an interim if it’s going to be a couple of months. Or you could just strip him, which they’ve done many times before, and change plans.”
They also noted that if Rollins undergoes arthroscopic surgery, then he could make it back in time for WrestleMania 40. However, if he undergoes invasive surgery, then he’d miss the Show of Shows.
