On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 18, 1998, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the the San Jose Arena in San Jose, California.

This was the first Attitude Era Royal Rumble and the second of 3 Royal Rumble matches that were won by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

This event also featured Kane burning The Undertaker (who was inside a casket) and Shawn Michaels suffering a career-ending injury during the casket match.
