On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 24, 1993, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California.

This marks the very first Royal Rumble with the rule that the winner of the actual Royal Rumble match wins the right to wrestle the World Champion at WrestleMania.

This rule has been used in every single Royal Rumble match since that day.

Giant Gonzalez (former WCW Wrestler El Gigante) made his WWF debut that night, when he attacked The Undertaker.
