• Drew McIntyre Says He Would’ve Dropped Brock Lesnar If He Tried Any ‘Funny Business’ At WrestleMania 36

While speaking on Busted Open Radio recently, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre discussed a variety of topics, including his match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.

He said he was nervous, and would’ve taken out Lesnar if he tried to pull some funny business at the event:

“I mean I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous. I felt fully prepared, as much as I could be, but I still get the butterflies and I’ll always get the butterflies especially with such a big match. And with the circumstances changing the way they did? Nobody knew what to expect.

It wasn’t until I was actually in the building. I was backstage waiting for my entrance at WrestleMania…it was silence. There wasn’t 80,000 people screaming, it was complete silence. I was wondering ‘what is going to happen here? Like how are we going to do this?’ And when my music hit and I don’t know what happened. I just slipped straight into the zone.

Brock Lesnar came out there and if you saw the look in his eyes? He was ready to go. He’s not phoning this in, he was ready to fight. And if you could have read my mind? You know, people would think I’m insane! But what was really going through my head was ‘if you try any funny business in this match Brock? I will drop where you stand’.

It seems a bit crazy to say but that’s exactly what’s going through my head, you know?

When I’m out there I’m Drew McIntyre, I’m in the moment, I believe it. And that’s exactly what it was that night. I was in the moment, we had the match, but I also had a special moment after the match when I won the title. Usually it’s a 1, 2, 3 big pop…but it was 1, 2, 3 and silence. I was given the title. I looked at it and I forgot that there was millions of people watching.”
