Below are some top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, including an update on Drew McIntyre:

• According to the Wrestling Observer, Drew McIntyre’s slow burn heel turn is inspired by Bret Hart’s WWF character from 1997, where he was hated in the US, but loved outside of US.

McIntyre’s new character is similar to that of Bret, in the sense that he is logically correct, but is disliked as a result of it.

Despite Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn talking to him to change his mind, McIntyre isn’t willing to forgive Jey Uso for all the things he did in The Bloodline and doesn’t trust him.

McIntyre will face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at Crown Jewel on November 4th in Saudi Arabia.

• Claudio Castagnoli revealed that Bryan Danielson suffered a broken orbital bone on Dynamite. Claudio declared that he will come after AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & Kazuchika Okada, and make both of them pay. Commentators noted that Bryan will undergo surgery.

According to PWInsider, Bryan’s injury is not a storyline and he will miss the rest of 2023.

• On last night’s episode of AEW Collision, Hikaru Shida defeated Abadon in a Fright Night Fight to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship.

After the match, “Timeless” Toni Storm came out to play mind games with Shida.

Toni laid down on the announce table and gave an orange to Tony Schiavone. You can watch where she pulled out the orange from:
