ECW Legend Rob Van Dam, known for his surprise appearances, recently confirmed that he is under a WWE Legends deal.
Despite making several appearances on AEW television this year, RVD remains tied to WWE under the terms of this agreement.
The WWE Hall Of Famer has competed on AEW television sporadically since last year, including teaming up with Hangman Adam Page and HOOK on the February 21 episode of AEW Dynamite and again on AEW Collision on April 20.
His AEW appearances have been based on per-appearance agreements.
In a recent interview on the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast, RVD confirmed his WWE Legends contract, which allows him to appear in AEW but with certain restrictions, particularly concerning video games and action figures.
He explained:
“The first time that I talked to Tony Khan about doing this (working with AEW), a factor was that I still have a WWE Legends deal.
So, my use to AEW would be limited as far as they can’t put me on video games, action figures, stuff like that and so, you could say it’s limited on both ends or you could say I got both ends going, best of both worlds or you could just say RVD does whatever he wants.”
Despite these restrictions, Van Dam seems to be enjoying the flexibility of working for both companies.
