WWE Hall of Famer Edge wrestled the last match under his current WWE contract against Sheamus on his 25th anniversary in WWE last month on SmackDown.
The Rated-R Superstar’s WWE contract will expire at the end of this month and it’s unknown what the future holds for him.
What’s known is that he won’t wrestle in Toronto again as he said that his match against Sheamus over there was his last match in his hometown.
There have been multiple reports about Edge finishing up with WWE and possibly going to AEW since last month.
PWInsider reports that Edge was removed from the internal WWE roster list, and was later added back, but not as an active TV performer.
He is no longer listed internally on either the RAW or SmackDown roster. He is now listed as a “miscellaneous” talent, which is for personalities under contract with WWE but not working actively on television.
Others included on that list are Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Big E, Titus O’Neil and Braun Strowman, along with other talents who are connected to the company, but not actively performing or are injured.
On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Edge’s best friend Christian Cage dropped a line during his promo while discussing his and Swerve Strickland’s loss to Sting and Darby Allin at All In.
He said:
“I didn’t have my regular partner with me, did I?”
Although he was referring to Luchasaurus, there has been speculation about Christian possibly referring to Edge here.
In an update on this situation, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Edge and WWE are far apart on money for a new deal, similar to the contract situations of Drew McIntyre and LA Knight.
