WWE Hall Of Famer Edge returned to SmackDown last week and called out Sheamus to challenge him to a first time ever match on his 25th anniversary in WWE on this week’s episode of SmackDown in Toronto.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that this could be Edge’s last match as Ron Hutchinson, who is Edge’s trainer, said that this would be his last match.

After a match with current Mr. Money In The Bank Damian Priest on last year’s RAW in Toronto, Edge cut a promo after the show went off air and said that he wants to retire in the city in 2023:

“I can’t wait to do it some more. And I can’t wait to hopefully come back one last time. One last time here in Toronto. Looking at the calendar, we usually come here in August.

So next August, I plan on seeing each and every one of you. And in a perfect world, we all say goodbye to each other that night.”

WWE isn’t billing Edge vs. Sheamus as The Rated-R Superstar’s last match, so nothing is confirmed yet, but this could be the last time fans get to see him in the ring.

It should be noted that WWE will have another show in Toronto later this year, though.
