Below are a couple of top WWE, TNA & NXT news stories of the day, involving Ethan Page and Joe Hendry.

• In the main event of the NXT Heatwave premium live event, Ethan Page won the NXT Championship by accident! You can watch the finish below:

Backstage after the show, Page said the following about his win:

“Well, most people would say it feels amazing, it feels great. But to be honest with you, I mean, I knew this was gonna happen. 6 Weeks. I walked in the first night, and I attacked who? Oh, that’s right, this bum’s name is still in this belt, and as soon I’m done with this interview, I’m gonna be getting these things changed. That’s right, I attacked Trick Williams.

My first attempt didn’t really play in my favor. I clearly learned from my lesson since I’m a wily veteran of the game, and it took me 17 years to get to the WWE Universe and only 6 weeks to become champion. Now I’m the face of NXT. That’s what everyone’s saying, right?

You’re gonna say I got lucky? I earned everything I have in the last 17 years of my career. Tonight is no different. This championship is earned, and I’m gonna prove it. I’m going to be a fighting champion. I’m going to be the man in NXT, but not to prove it to you, people doubting me, saying things like, ‘Oh, you got lucky’. No, ‘All Ego’ was born to be champion. Now, I finally have the hardware to prove it.”

• As NXT Heatwave concluded with the crowning of a new NXT Champion, fans noticed a brief tease of Joe Hendry’s involvement. This comes after Hendry’s impactful NXT debut, where he claimed he could appear on “any show”.

According to Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan, sources within NXT confirmed that Hendry will play a significant role in the upcoming NXT and TNA crossover. WWE aims to capitalize on Hendry’s viral appeal, believing that even brief teases can keep fans interested.

Reportedly, more of these quick appearances are planned to build anticipation for Hendry’s next major NXT appearance. When asked about WWE’s interest in Hendry post-TNA contract, sources responded, “who wouldn’t?”

Despite the tease at the event, Hendry was not present in Toronto but was competing in Glasgow.

Hendry made the following tweets after Heatwave went off the air:
