Former WWE NXT star Gigi Dolin, now wrestling again under her real name Priscilla Kelly, was interviewed by Denise Salcedo about the infamous “tampon spot” that went viral years ago and unexpectedly reshaped her wrestling career. Kelly discussed how the moment exploded online, the intense backlash she faced, the unlikely opportunities it created, and the surprising reaction she later received from people inside WWE – including Road Dogg, who publicly disliked the spot when it happened.
Kelly said the viral moment didn’t take off immediately. It was nearly a week later when her phone suddenly blew up – while she was alone working a shift at GNC.
“I was working a job at GNC. I would work by myself at the shop and all of a sudden my phone’s just blowing up. It was a week after Suburban Fight… my phone’s just blowing up.”
Kelly admitted she never expected the clip to spread the way it did. “Never did I ever think that it was going to blow up and go viral the way that it did.”
But when it finally went global, the reaction was harsh. “Everybody knows… I got put through hell over that for some reason.”
Despite the negativity she faced at the time, she now laughs at how shocking people found it. “It’s really funny to me… back then that was such a shocking thing.”
Kelly explained that she was one of the only women doing extreme or provocative spots in that era.
“There wasn’t a lot of people, especially women, doing these really shocking things in wrestling. Back then I was one of the very few people doing these shocking things and this kind of $exual character.”
Today, she says the industry and audience have changed dramatically.
“Now it’s kind of no big deal… now everybody’s a shock wrestler… everybody’s doing something $exual or weird.”
Even with all the backlash, Kelly insists she never regretted doing the spot. In fact, it ended up opening major doors for her.
“I never regretted it. I got a whole UK tour. I got signed a couple years after that to WWE when I was told I’d never get a job. I think it’s just a cool little piece of my own history. It ended up having the impact that it did.”
One of the most surprising parts of her story came later – when she joined WWE and worked with Road Dogg. Kelly explained that Road Dogg had been openly critical of the spot when it first happened. But years later, in WWE, the two hit it off immediately.
“Road Dogg… was somebody that didn’t really like the spot when it happened… he made some tweet about it. Fast forward… I work for WWE now. And dude, me and Road Dog… we hit it off… we were homies. We’d always be cutting up with each other and cracking jokes.”
Kelly admitted she always wondered whether he ever realized she was the same person he once criticized.
“I always wondered… I wonder if he realizes I’m the same person he frowned upon on Twitter. I never asked… he was always so cool to me.”
