In a new video posted on his YouTube channel, Rick Boogs said the following about his release from WWE:
“It’s been an interesting time in my life with my job in WWE being terminated due to a backstage political power play, at least, that’s my opinion of it. But now is not the time to talk about that.
I will get into detail about that when the time is right, but as far as right now, we’re going to do a gym tour.”
Later on, Boogs started replying to fan comments and wrote the following:
“I can say with 100% certainty, the removal of Vince (McMahon) killed my career.
Pretty much everyone in the corporate side of the company agreed (about him being the ‘ideal’ WWE star due to his size, look and personality) which is why I was always the third party guy doing commercials for Old Spice, Snickers, Mikes Hard Lemonade, and Toyota however, one person clearly has some weird grudge against me.”
According to RSN, a source told them the following about the backstage reaction in WWE to Boogs’ comments:
“Sounds like something Ryback would say. In other words, stupid and delusional. So crazy, I’d swear he was hacked. But I guess not.”
Former WWE Manager Zeb Colter (Dutch Mantel) later tweeted:
“Just read where Rick Boogs blames his release from WWE due to a ‘backstage political power play’. Eh… I blame it on lack of talent. Boogs now, is being considered for an on-screen spokesman for insomnia. Take 2 pills and watch a Boogs match. 8 hours easy.”
