• WWE’s Original Plan For Roman Reigns At WrestleMania 42 & SummerSlam 2026 Revealed

Roman Reigns was betrayed by Paul Heyman in the main event of WrestleMania 41 – Night 1. The shocking split kicked off a feud between Reigns and Seth Rollins, who formed The Vision with the help of Heyman.

Self Made Pro reports that before Rollins’ shoulder injury, Reigns was scheduled to feud with both Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, eventually defeating both Brons. Reigns did end up facing Reed twice and is tied 1-1 against him, while he had yet to face Breakker one-on-one.

The report states that the long-term direction was for The Tribal Chief to win the 2026 Royal Rumble and defeat Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42.

After the Show of Shows, Bron Breakker would turn on Rollins to take over The Vision.

The plan would then culminate at SummerSlam 2026, where Reigns was reportedly set to face Breakker and ultimately put him over in a passing-of-the-torch moment. However, Rollins’ injury forced WWE to accelerate their creative timeline, leading to Breakker removing Rollins from The Vision months ahead of schedule.

Had The Visionary not been injured, WrestleMania 42 would have featured Roman Reigns earning his first-ever PLE/PPV victory over Seth Rollins, a milestone he has yet to achieve.

The former Shield brothers have only faced each other twice on major shows. Their first match was at Money In The Bank 2016, where Rollins beat Reigns for the WWE Championship. The second was at Royal Rumble 2022, ending in a disqualification win for Rollins after using mind games against Reigns, who held the Universal Title at the time.

At the end of Survivor Series: WarGames, Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes 3 was teased for WrestleMania 42. The Tribal Chief is still rumored to win the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia next year and face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Showcase Of Immortals.

On the other hand, Bron Breakker has set his sights on CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship heading into the new year.
