On this day in 2018, we lost Old School Wrestling Legend Larry “The Axe” Hennig due to kidney failure at the age of 82.

Larry Hennig wrestled for various promotions in the 60s, 70s & 80s, such as Verne Gagne’s AWA and Vince McMahon Sr.’s WWWF.

He was the father of Old School WWF Legend “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig, and the grandfather of current WWE Wrestler Curtis Axel.

Larry isn’t in the WWE Hall of Fame yet, but will most likely be inducted one day as part of the annual Legacy Wing inductions.

• Finish For This Week’s RAW Main Event Changed

The Wrestling Observer reported earlier that Randy Orton was supposed to be in Rey Mysterio’s spot in the 6 man tag team main event on this week’s RAW, but that’s not the case.

Reddit user Loose Lips Backstage, who successfully leaked the Lana-Lashley-Rusev segment for this week’s RAW, had the following to say about the original plan for this week’s RAW main event:

“There were NO plans for Orton to officially be a part of this match. Original script had same six men in the match, just different finish.

Original was Orton interfering during the match and giving Styles an RKO which would’ve led to Mysterio pinning Styles for the win. Then Orton would give RKOs to Anderson and Gallows.

Again, there were no plans to have Orton in the match.”
