FLASHBACK: Brock Lesnar Recalls His Real Life Beef With The Undertaker

Brock Lesnar WWF 2002

In this flashback article, we’re gonna take a look at Brock Lesnar’s interview with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani from 2011. In this interview, Lesnar recalled losing the UFC Heavyweight Championship to Cain Velasquez and then getting called out by The Undertaker.

You can watch The Undertaker calling out Lesnar at UFC 121 below:

Below are the highlights from their interview where Lesnar talks about his real-life beef with The Undertaker:

Helwani: After the fight, I don’t know if you even know this, but I was the the guy who was interviewing. And I was interviewing him (The Undertaker), I don’t even know if you saw the clip, but we were asking about his thoughts on the fight and then you walked past it……..

Lesnar: You know, I was a bit delirious. Obviously, Cain (Velasquez) put me on a street that I didn’t know the name of and I was looking for my way home. So I went out of the Octagon and I had heard that The Undertaker was going to be there. Once again, I enjoyed working with Mark in the ring but me and him….. Well, there were some things said that kinda really pi$$ed me off.

Helwani: He asked you, “Do you want to do it?” And we still don’t even know what that means. What did that mean to you?

Lesnar: It’s one of those things where we’ve got a mutual friend and I overheard some things that he said about me. And then I had a rebuttal to it. And our friend must have relayed the message to him and he wasn’t too happy.

I don’t know what he wanted to do. Maybe he was trying to fight. I don’t know if he was there to fight or what or if he was there to get some attention or what, I don’t know.

Helwani: Did you feel (that was) a little disrespectful? I mean, you just fought in a title fight (and) like you said, you were trying to gather yourself. And then a guy who you have history with is essentially calling you out face to face. Not exactly the right time and place, wouldn’t you say?

Lesnar: These guys (pro wrestlers) were part of my life years ago and I think they see me having success outside of their universe that they can’t do…… You know, there isn’t one other pro wrestler that can do and make the change like I did. So I think there’s some animosity there from the professional wrestling aspect of things. Because I can always go back and be a pro wrestler. They can’t come and be an Ultimate Fighter. So it’s one of those things…..I don’t know…..

Helwani: …..they’re jealous of you?

Lesnar: I don’t know. I really don’t know and I don’t care. For me, like I said I was on a street that I didn’t know the name of that night and I was walking out and I happened to see him standing there. And the last conversation I had with Mark was a year prior to that. And I heard that he had said some things about my life and I wasn’t happy with it. I had a rebuttal to it.

Part of me wasn’t even conscious when I walked out of the octagon. If he wanted to make the transition against me I’m up for it. But I’m with the company now that I’m with and I don’t even know why where it came from. You know, I was walking out. He was standing there. I was on a street that I didn’t know the name of. So that’s what happened.

Helwani: Personally I couldn’t believe it. And everyone wanted to know, wretling – MMA, if the lines being blurred here or was it in fact legit beef like you are saying it is legit beef.

Lesnar: It is. It is a legit (beef). I got a problem with him.

Helwani: Have you talked to him since?

Lesnar: I have not.

Helwani: Any interest?

Lesnar: I don’t need to. I’m focused right now. I don’t want to get caught up in any of the other stuff. I’m a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. I want my title back. I got to beat Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez. I’ve got a lot. My hands are full right now. So that’s all I’m focused on right now.

Obviously, The Undertaker & Brock Lesnar have squashed their beef since then, as The Undertaker agreed to have Lesnar break his WrestleMania streak.
