Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day.
• 4-Time IMPACT Wrestling World Tag Team Champion Mike Santana has departed from AEW. Today, Santana’s removal from the AEW roster was confirmed, signaling his departure from the company.
Santana made his debut on the inaugural episode of AEW Dynamite in 2019, alongside his tag team partner Ortiz. However, the duo experienced a falling out, leading to their on-screen split.
Following an injury sustained during the Blood and Guts match in 2022, Santana was sidelined for over a year.
He made his return to action at the Stadium Stampede match at All In 2023. However, since then, his involvement with AEW has been limited. Although he wrestled on an episode of Rampage in September and appeared in some vignettes, there were reports of his dissatisfaction with his portrayal.
On his podcast, Konnan mentioned that Santana believed he deserved a higher position on the card.
Now that he has exited AEW, Santana is now a free agent.
• During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, 16-time World Champion John Cena was asked who he thinks is the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) in WWE.
Here’s what Cena said:
“I mean, this is just my perspective, and again, we’re talking objectivity. So, of course, it’s only opinion.
Hulk Hogan would have to be in there. Steve Austin, Dwayne Johnson, and Roman Reigns.
Roman has done a fantastic job of taking the business to heights it’s never been to before.”
