Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Royal Rumble 2025 and Alexa Bliss.
• With Royal Rumble 2025 just a day away, speculation is swirling about a potential WWE return for Matt Cardona, fka Zack Ryder.
The former Intercontinental Champion has long expressed interest in a WWE comeback, and now rumors suggest he could be part of the 30-man Rumble match.
According to Fightful Select, there are unconfirmed reports that Cardona may appear at the event:
“Regarding Cardona, there are at least people (outside of WWE) claiming that the plan is for an appearance. We have not confirmed that.”
What is confirmed is that Cardona will be in Indianapolis for Rumble weekend. He’s scheduled to appear at WrestleCon, where he’ll be alongside names like JBL, Rob Van Dam, and Mr. Kennedy.
Cardona was released from WWE in 2020. His wife, Chelsea Green, is in WWE and is the Women’s United States Champion on the SmackDown brand.

• Alexa Bliss’ WWE return appears unlikely in the near future due to an ongoing contract dispute. PWInsider initially reported that plans were in place for Bliss to return on RAW in San Jose, with a storyline involving The Wyatt Sicks. However, WWE later instructed creative to drop all plans for her comeback.
The issue stems from Bliss’ side believing she deserves a new contract, while WWE wants her to fulfill the terms of her previous deal, which was in place before she took maternity leave in January 2023. The two sides couldn’t reach an agreement in time for her planned return, leading to The Wyatt Sicks being moved to SmackDown instead.
In an update, the Wrestling Observer reported the following:
“They (WWE & Alexa) were at least far enough apart that people are talking about not expecting a deal to be made.”
Bliss has not publicly addressed the situation, but she has removed all mentions of WWE from her social media bios.
