Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel (son of “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig) recently reignited a feud with Konnan, criticizing the WCW Veteran as “washed-up”.
Axel claimed Konnan once called him boring and lacking charisma, prompting Axel to fire back with harsh words, labeling Konnan a “fat slob” and dismissing his wrestling career.
Here’s what Axel said on Monte and The Pharaoh:
“This dude said I was not entertaining. I don’t even know what he said. He just tweeted I was not entertaining, I was boring, whatever, not over, whatever. I tweeted him back saying, ‘Did you blow yourself up writing that tweet? Because I know you blew yourself up wrestling my dad. You’ve never been sh*t.’
So me and him got into it for a second, but that was years ago. But he’s a piece of sh*t, I don’t care about him.
He’s a fat slob, man. He never worked good matches. You ever see him in a heavyweight match? He talked sh*t to me, so I sent him something with my Intercontinental Title in my hand like this, like ‘What’s up?!’”
In response, Konnan addressed the remarks on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, recounting that his initial critique of Axel years ago—suggesting he “lacked charisma” and might need a “charisma transplant”—seems to have sparked the animosity.
Konnan expressed disbelief that Axel still holds a grudge after so many years and dismissed the ongoing feud, suggesting Axel seek professional help if he continues to dwell on past comments. Ultimately, Konnan stated he’s unfazed by Axel’s opinions and indifferent to his insults.
Here’s what the former WCW United States Heavyweight Champion said:
“Somebody asked me what I think about Curtis Axel, and I said, ‘He lacks charisma and should get a charisma transplant.’ That’s what set him off. Go to a mental health professional, bro, if he’s still bringing this up 10 years later. I could give a f**k what he says.”
