Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day.

• AEW released several top names recently and let some contracts expire, including Malakai Black, Miro, Rey Fenix, and Ricky Starks.

Another top name that could be leaving AEW this year is former Women’s World Champion Saraya (fka Paige in WWE).

During the Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp noted that he could be Saraya leaving the company later this year when her contract expires, unless AEW froze her deal.

Saraya’s AEW tenure has been marked by a mix of high-profile matches and evolving storylines. Since her debut at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam in September 2022, she’s been a prominent figure in the women’s division. Her last televised match in AEW occurred on the October 8, 2024 episode of Dynamite. Her in-ring appearances have become less frequent in recent months.

Earlier this year during an interview with TMZ, Saraya noted that she’d be open to returning to WWE:

“Yeah, I love WWE. I appreciate everybody there. They made me. They gave me my career, and I’m just appreciative of that. One day – who knows? I love my time in AEW though. My contract’s up with AEW in September so I don’t know, maybe I’ll stay with them, maybe not, I don’t know.”

This sentiment has resonated with fans who remember her impactful run in WWE, where she was a pioneer in the women’s revolution. Her forced retirement due to a neck injury in 2018 cut her in-ring career short, but her return to wrestling in AEW reignited her passion.

• Wrestlers in both WWE & AEW are allowed to perform blading to bleed during matches or segments, whenever required.

According to Sean Ross Sapp on the Fightful Select Q&A, both companies perform blood tests on wrestlers that are scheduled to bleed in their upcoming matches, to ensure maximum safety.

Multiple wrestlers bled at the AEW Revolution 2025 PPV, including “Timeless” Toni Storm, Mariah May, and Will Ospreay.

The last wrestler to bleed (intentionally via blading) on WWE programming was Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber 2025, after John Cena turned heel and viciously assaulted the Undisputed WWE Champion.
