Former WCW World Champion Says Goldberg Should Put Over Roman Reigns In His Final Match

Roman Reigns Pulls Out Of WrestleMania 36 Match Against Goldberg

• Former WCW World Champion Says Goldberg Should Put Over Roman Reigns In His Final Match

During a recent episode of Vince Russo’s The Bro Show podcast, former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Diamond Dallas Page talked about fellow WCW Legend Goldberg’s WWE contract situation, that only has 1 more match left in it, unless of course an extension will be signed by both parties in 2022.

Here’s what DDP had to say:

“To me, if Goldberg has not worked with Roman Reigns, he definitely should put Roman over on the way out. Lots of people put Bill over, and he is still, like, to be going at 50-years-old, he has a lot of an impact in the game.”

Goldberg was booked to drop the WWE Universal Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 36, but the match did not take place, as Roman self-quarantined due to the COVID-19 outbreak and didn’t want to take a risk (with his immune system being down after his cancer treatment) as his wife was about to give birth.

In January 2021, Goldberg talked to FOX Sports and revealed that it still bothers him that the match was nixed.

Here’s what Goldberg said about Roman Reigns:

“I’m always going to have that ingrained hatred for him by playing football 60 minutes away from where I played football with Georgia. And by the hatred we had for Georgia Tech, it’s just one of those things that people don’t understand it and it’s one of the best back stories professional wrestling could ever have.

Because there are two schools that I cannot stand. I cannot stand the colors. I may be 54-years-old, 34 years removed from when I was playing football against them, but anything from Georgia Tech and anything from the University of Florida makes me want to vomit, okay?

So, Roman Reigns, knowing that he wore that helmet and that uniform, I want to take him apart for no other reason.”

In March 2021, Goldberg had his own WWE Network documentary, in which he revealed that he regrets not appreciating professional wrestling in the past.

Here’s what Bill said:

“It’s been a weird deal, the wrestling. It’s because my love of it has grown exponentially throughout the years and I would have thought that wouldn’t have been the case by any stretch. I didn’t appreciate it as much as I do now when I got in it by any stretch. So it gives me a completely different perspective.

I wish I would have had this perspective on it back in the day, but then again, I wouldn’t have been Goldberg. I guess there’s a reason why things happen and there’s a reason why you are the person that you are because you’re a product of your environment. That’s why I’m so chill now. I’m Goldberg the farmhand.”
