Below are a couple of top WCW & AEW news stories of the day.

• We are saddened to report the passing of Villano V, a revered member of the legendary Mendoza wrestling family, at the age of 62. His death was confirmed by CMLL, which recognized Villano V, also known as Ray Mendoza Jr., as a towering figure in Mexican wrestling history and part of one of the sport’s most illustrious dynasties.

Villano V had four brothers. Their father, Ray Mendoza, was a lucha libre icon.

Villano V began his wrestling career as a teenager in the 1970s and quickly rose to prominence. A defining moment of his career occurred in 2008 when he defeated Blue Panther in a Mask vs. Mask match at CMLL’s 75th Anniversary Show, a bout widely regarded as one of the best of the year.

During the 1990s, Villano V and his brother, Villano IV, worked for WCW, making significant impacts, especially on shows like WCW World Wide and WCW Saturday Night. The duo, known for their heel roles, appeared at major WCW events, including SuperBrawl VII and Clash of the Champions XXXV. Villano IV is now the only surviving Villano brother.
