Below are some top WWE news stories of the day:
• According to PWInsider, former WWE Champion AJ Styles is scheduled to return on next week’s November 10th episode of SmackDown, which will be the post-Crown Jewel edition of the show.
There was speculation that Styles would be Roman Reigns’ opponent for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at this Saturday’s Crown Jewel premium live event in Saudi Arabia, because he was feuding with The Bloodline, but that wasn’t the case.
Styles has been off WWE programming for over a month now, after being brutally assaulted by Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso.
• Braun Strowman underwent neck fusion surgery this past summer. In an update, he noted that he received some good news from the Doctors regarding his recovery. No return date is known yet.
• Gunther is the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. He has held the title for over 500 days now.
According to Xero News, Gunther’s record-setting title reign is scheduled to end at WrestleMania 40, and WWE’s current choices for the man to dethrone him are either Brock Lesnar or Chad Gable:
“Brock was option A with the view in mind that they could also do it at WrestleMania 41 in a different scenario, if they can’t do Lesnar at 40.
Chad Gable was discussed recently as backup plan. WWE officials are super high on Gable and think him dethroning Gunther at WrestleMania would be a star making moment.”
Gable faced Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship multiple times this year, but failed to win the Title. The best he was able to do was pick up a count-out victory over The Ring General.
