After leaving WWE in 2022, Sasha Banks joined NJPW this year as Mercedes Mone, but her tag team partner Naomi didn’t.

According to the Wrestling Observer, NJPW & STARDOM’s parent company Bushiroad passed on the offer to sign Naomi because she would cost a lot and they can’t afford that because their business took a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic:

“They were told they could bring in Trinity Fatu, but it was felt it would cost too much for the return and thus far hadn’t made that deal.”

Naomi saw this report and took to Instagram to note that this isn’t true:

At tonight’s IMPACT Wrestling TV tapings, Naomi made her debut in the company under her real name “Trinity Fatu”.

She cut a promo and shared the ring with IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo. This promo will air on next Thursday’s show.

At tomorrow’s TV tapings, Trinity will face KiLynn King, who is the current IMPACT Knockouts World Tag Team Champion along with Taylor Wilde (together known as The Coven).

Mercedes attended the show to support Trinity. Below is what she tweeted:

“😍 @TheTrinity_Fatu is here to make an IMPACT!!! She bout to knock out all competition & leave em in the rear view. Get it sis.”
