Below are a couple fo top AEW news stories of the day.
• CJ Perry (fka Lana in WWE), who has been absent from AEW programming since December, recently revealed her status with the promotion.
After dealing with a MRSA infection that required hospitalization and continued treatment in January, Perry confirmed her departure from AEW during an interview with USA Today’s Jordan Mendoza at the 2024 ESPY Awards. “My time with them has just finished,” she said.
Perry indicated that she is open to signing with other promotions and remains focused on working as a manager. “I’m really focused on finding talent and cultivating them and helping them become the best wrestler, champion possible. I guess you could say I want to be the Paul Heyman,” Perry explained.
She debuted in All Elite Wrestling at All Out 2023, initially featured in a storyline with her then-husband, Miro (Rusev). She later aligned with Andrade El Idolo, eventually turning on him during his match against Miro at AEW Worlds End on December 30. Since then, she has been absent from AEW programming and is no longer listed on the company’s official roster.

• All Elite Wrestling has seen several major stars return from injury recently, including MJF, Kyle O’Reilly, and Britt Baker. However, former AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter remains absent.
Hayter was last seen at the 2023 Double Or Nothing pay-per-view, where she lost her title to Toni Storm and has been out of action for over a year due to an unspecified injury.
A recent report from Fightful Select offered a glimmer of hope for her fans. Hayter was reportedly backstage at a recent AEW Dynamite episode for yearly physicals. This appearance has fueled optimism within AEW about her potential recovery and return, with some talent mentioning her in match pitches, anticipating her clearance to wrestle again.
While Hayter has largely kept to herself during her recovery, her rare backstage appearances have contributed to the scarcity of updates on her condition. Despite this, AEW sources are broadly confident that she will make a comeback, possibly by the end of 2024, although no official timetable has been set.
