• Former WWE Wrestler Says He Wasn’t Supported Backstage Because His Gimmick Wasn’t The Creative’s Idea

While speaking to The Lewis Nicholls Show, former WWE Tag Team Champion Darren Young revealed how his alliance with Bob Backlund failed due to the creative not having any interest in the idea.

Below is what Young said:

“It’s just unfortunate that the people who work under Vince McMahon didn’t have my back and they had their own agenda because it wasn’t their idea and if it was their idea then it would have been over even more. They would have got the machine behind it even more if it was their idea.

It was me, myself, and I had an idea and Vince loved it and we had so much fun.”

Vince McMahon loved the idea of having Bob Backlund as Young’s manager, but the lack of interest from creative led to its failure.

Young also recalled being stopped from using the Crossface Chicken Wing because Triple H told him it was a “dangerous hold”. He got upset when he found out that it was actually done because the move was given to Asuka.
