Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day.

• Former WWF commentator Kevin Kelly, who was working as a Commentator on AEW Collision, has been fired from All Elite Wrestling.

According to PWTorch, Kelly’s tweets before the Revolution 2024 PPV led to his termination.

In a series of tweets, Kelly expressed his dissatisfaction with his utilization since joining as Collision’s play-by-play commentator in 2023.

He particularly accused Ring of Honor announcer Ian Riccaboni of defamation and undermining his career.

Here’s what Kelly tweeted:

“I agree. Ian went on social media back in August and smeared me with a bunch of outrageous claims. It has affected my standing within the industry and I want corrective action taken.”

Last August, Riccaboni made posts on a Discord server where he discussed instances where he felt Kelly publicly disparaged him. He also criticized Kelly’s promotion of “QAnon movies”, specifically mentioning the film Sound of Freedom.

Wrestling Observer reported that Riccaboni acknowledged making the Discord posts but claimed he was unfamiliar with how Discord functioned. He admitted he should have been more aware of what was public versus private but expressed no regrets about the content of his posts.

• On his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator Jim Ross said the following about the allegations made against Vince McMahon:

“I’m tired of it. It’s embarrassing in a lot of ways that it’s happened this way. It’s affected a lot of innocent people. That’s my take on it.

It’s time to move on. It’s time to move on and cause some rest and peace for some people and it’s time to move on in my opinion.”
